NEVADA RANGES MOAPA PEAK 6471 FEET GUIDE NO. 6.12

The dirt road to Moapa Peak is sandy at its beginning just off the paved frontage road and requires 4-wheel drive. Please make a note of this if you are planning on climbing the peak.

TRANS-SIERRA RANGES BOUNDARY PEAK 13140 FEET GUIDE NO. 1.3
TRANS-SIERRA RANGES MONTGOMERY PEAK 13441 FEET GUIDE NO. 1.4
Trail Canyon is the trailhead for both Boundary and Montgomery Peaks routes A&B. There is a road into Trail Canyon north of the one described in the guide. This road is well graded and in better condition than the road described in the guide. The following is a description of this road:

NEW DRIVE /ROUTES A&B: From Bishop California drive 60 miles N on US route 6 to Nevada State Route 264. Turn right (SE) on State Route 264 and drive about 6.8 miles to a good graded dirt road heading (SW) turn right here. This road descends into the valley and crosses a stream several times before it starts climbing into the mountains. Drive 10.6 miles to a mining area. At the mine turn left. The road goes over a pass above the mining area. In about a mile you will see a sign "Trail" at a fork. Turn right at the fork. The road takes you into Trail Canyon at the 8,000 feet elevation. Continue up Trail Canyon to the trailhead at 9000 ft.
This road can be seen on topozone.com.
