LNG Impact on the Harbor Area

The everyday operations of LNG in the Harbor Area will have a mixed impact on air quality. Each time a new LNG tanker comes into the harbor to deliver fuel, port operations and travel will be impacted by the tight security measures put in place to protect LNG delivery.

In the event of a disaster, an earthquake, tsunami, an industrial accident, sabotage or terrorism, the Harbor Communities of San Pedro, Wilmington and Long Beach could experience one of the worst industrial disasters in history. If the LNG facility is breached, the resulting explosion could involve numerous hazardous storage facilities already in the harbor.

Harbor area residents have the human right to live without the prospect of such a large-scale disaster on their doorsteps.

The LNG site is proposed for the Port of Long Beach, to be sited on Terminal Island, in San Pedro Bay, California.
