Southern Sierran
China tour: Gateway to adventure in the East

By John Lajeuness

Join the Angeles Chapter for a fascinating tour of China; experience the art, architecture, language, and cuisine of this country’s ancient and modern civilizations. We’ll tour picturesque rural landscapes and congested cityscapes, appreciating the diversity of this vast territory.

Trek across China’s Great Wall, more than 2,000 years old and 4,000 miles long.

Our tour will include some of the most popular destinations of this remarkable country, including the cities of Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. We will visit Tiananmen Square, the Museum of the Terracotta Warriors (6,000 full-size clay soldiers built from 221 to 210 B.C.), the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the legendary Ming Tombs, the Palace Museum, the Wild Goose Pagoda, Suzhou (the Venice of the East), and the Ling Yin Temple. These sites and many more are included in the China Highlights trip.

The Oct. 6–16 dates were chosen specifically to avoid the weeklong Chinese National Day holiday closures and the hot muggy weather of earlier months.

The fully escorted land package, only $995, includes taxes, the $60 visa application fee, all domestic transportation (including two domestic airfares), admission fees, boat trips, coach transportation, transfers, bilingual Chinese and English tour guides, deluxe hotel accommodations (double occupancy), and three meals each day. If you are traveling alone, we will be happy to find a roommate for you on this trip.

All participants receive the group rate for airfare from L.A. to China of only $1,000. The tour will be fully escorted by Chapter leaders Bruce Hale, a veteran of four previous trips to China; Andrea Lim, Mandarin speaker; and John Lajeuness, organizer. Any proceeds from this Chapter Fundraising Outings Committee trip will fund Chapter development.

For itinerary and application, e-mail John Lajeuness with subject line "China Tour ." Sign up now, trip will sell out quickly.
