Welcome 20's & 30's!


You can participate in many different activities with the Orange County Sierra Singles (OCSS) 20s and 30s group. We have easy hikes, all day hikes and conditioning hikes. If you prefer social events we host concerts, movie nights, dances and other social functions that allow you get to know our members in a relaxed atmosphere. While we encourage membership you don't have to be a member to participate in our events. NOV 15 SUN 3:00 PM 20S/30S BELL VIEW SUNSET HIKE
O: Easy-moderate paced, 4-5 mile r/t, about 1000 ft gain. On a clear day you can see Catalina & San Clemente Islands, Long Beach, and Dana Point. We'll take a rest on a flat knoll when we reach the top. Trail is on a steep ridge with loose rocks. Directions from I-5 & Alicia Pkwy: Alicia Pkwy into Mission Viejo for 5.3 miles, R on Santa Margarita Pkwy go 2.7 miles, L on Plano Trabuco Rd go 0.3 miles, R on Robinson Ranch Road go 1.1 miles. Trailhead is on the left 0.2 miles past Headlands Drive. No restrooms. Bring snacks, sturdy boots, flashlight, 2 quarts water, & $ for optional dinner at TBD eatery after hike. Rain cancels. NOV 21 SAT 6 PM 20S/30S DINNER AND MOVIE NIGHT AT THE SPECTRUM
Come join us for dinner and a movie at the Spectrum in Irvine (71 Fortune Drive). Newcomers welcome!! Meet at the fountain just outside the food court at 6:00pm. Look for the green balloons. Movie selection will be made during dinner. Hosts: Danielle & Johnny Reddel (socaldraperyman@yahoo.com).
DEC 9 WED 6:30 PM 20S/30S ALISO CREEK TRAIL FROM EL TORO PARK
O: Easy-moderate pace, 5-7 mile r/t evening walk starting and ending at El Toro Park. No tigers please. We walk the fully paved Aliso Creek Trail and will turn around after an hour for an 8:30 pm return. Meet at El Toro Park in front of the restrooms at Larkwood Lane & Arrowwood Street in Lake Forest. DEC 12 SAT 8:30 AM 20S/30S TURTLE ROCK NEWCOMER LOOP HIKE & FARMERS MARKET
O: Easy, socially paced 4-5 mile loop around turtle rock in Irvine. The loop will take 1-2 hours with optional Irvine Farmers Market afterward for shopping and lunch. Directions: From 405 North: Exit Jeffrey and head south. Jeffrey will become University. Left onto Ridgeline Drive, left onto Turtle Rock Drive. From 405 South: Exit Culver and head south. Left onto Campus, left on to Turtle Rock Drive. Meet at Turtle Rock Park - North Entrance off of Turtle Rock Drive just past Sunnyhill. (DO NOT turn on Sunnyhill, that is the East entrance for tennis.) Parking lot is on the left, down a slight incline. Bring snacks, sturdy shoes, 2 quarts water, & $$ for farmers market or TBD eatery after hike. Rain cancels. Leader: Mountain Dave Kuhn (mtndave@cox.net). DEC 19 SAT 4:30 PM 20S/30S DINNER AND NEWPORT HARBOR CHRISTMAS BOAT PARADE
Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the renowned Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade offers one of the most spectacular displays of decorated and lit boats anywhere in the country. According to the website, "The Christmas Boat Parade, which has been hailed as 'one of the top ten holiday happenings in the nation' by the New York Times, is truly a magical holiday tradition for all ages. The parade continues to be a premier event during the holiday season in Southern California that brings joy and happiness to all that view it." We will meet first for dinner at BJ's Pizzeria, then take the ferry over to Balboa Island to stake out a good viewing spot. Check out the parade at www.christmasboatparade.com. Bring $$ for dinner and ferry ($ 2 r/t), warm clothing, optional lawn chair, binoculars, camera. Meet at BJ'S restaurant at 106 Main st, just south of Balboa Blvd along the main drag leading to the Balboa Pier, Newport Beach. RSVP and indicate if coming for dinner.
