11/27/09 Santa Rosa Plateau Ecological Preserve Rating:   O
Work off that second piece of pie on this trek around the beautiful Santa Rosa Plateau. Look for wildlife and fall colors on this moderately paced hike through rolling oak-studded hills. Conquer the mighty (or nearly so) Monument Hill (2046'). 11 mi, 900' gain. Meet 7 am Long Beach rideshare pt, or 9 am at the Visitor Ctr parking lot. Bring $2 for park use fee, water, lunch, trail shoes, sun protection. Heavy rain up to 3 days prior cancels

Brisk to moderate paced 4 mi rt walk on flat terrain. ID numerous native birds, learn flora and fauna along the way, marvel at the creation of lakes and ecosystems in the midst of urban development. Meet 7:50 am every Sat in the parking lot at the El Dorado Library (Studebaker Rd near Spring St). Bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen. Rain cancels, drizzle goes.
