Moderately paced 5 mi 1400' gain hike with great views of SF Valley and way beyond depending on visibility. Meet 8:30 am at trailhead (From 118 Fwy take Balboa Blvd exit N 2 mi to Orozco St, turn L continuing 1/2 mi to end, L on Sesnon, pass parking lot, go 4 blocks to Neon. Turn R and park at end of street). Bring water, snack, lugsoles, hat, sunscreen. Rain cancels.

Moonlight Walk Along the Los Angeles River
|

Join us for a leisurely 2 mi moonlight walk along the Los Angeles River on a walking path. This part of the LA River has undergone a beautification project for walking, jogging and pet strolling. We'll listen to the music of the river while we talk. We'll see a couple of interesting creatures and the halfway point takes us to the back of CBS Studios. Although we may need to bundle up, we'll stay warm with the great company of each other. Afterwards we'll go to a local coffee shop for dessert and hot drinks. 2 hrs. Meet 6:30 pm at the intersections of Valleyheart Dr & Whitsett Ave (Christian Science Church, 4032 Whitsett Ave, Studio City, residential parking behind the church). Wear walking shoes, appropriate attire; bring water, flashlight. Rain cancels.

6 mi, 1300' loss hike. We will start at the top of the San Gabriel Mtns at Bear Divide; hike the ridge to the Wilson Saddle with great views of the Valleys, then down the Los Pinetos Trail into the oaks at Wilson Ranch in Placerita Cyn SP. Car Shuttle. Meet at 8:30 am Walker Ranch trail head parking area (From Hwy 14 in Newhall take Placerita Cyn Rd exit, go E 3˝ mi, passing Placerita Cyn Park entrance, to dirt shoulder parking for Walker Ranch on R. Do not block gate). Bring 2 qts water, snack, lugsoles, hat, sunscreen. Rain cancels.

Meet 8:30 am in parking lot in front of the Encino golf course restaurant Monterey at Encino (16821 Burbank Blvd, Encino, landmark Encino Glen sign). Bring good walking shoes, water, hat, money. Meet 8:30 am at Stunt Road trailhead (From 101 Ventura Fwy take Valley Circle/Mulholland Dr exit S, R on Valmar Rd [becomes Old Topanga Cyn Rd], R 3˝ mi on Mulholland Hwy, L 1 mi on Stunt Rd, park on dirt shoulder on R). Moderately paced 10 mi 1600' gain hike in Santa Monica Mtns Conservancy park with magnificent oak area, to Wilson Saddle viewpoint with great SF valley views. Meet 8:30 am at Wilson Cyn Park trailhead (from the Golden State/I-5 Freeway in Sylmar take Roxford St, exit 159, N past the 210 Freeway, bend R to Olive View Dr, continue past the main hospital and the four-way stop at Bledsoe St to park entrance road located 200 yards E of Bledsoe, just before Fenton Avenue, pay $5 parking fee near entrance, then proceed to trailhead parking at the NW terminus of the entry road). Bring 2 qts water, lunch, lugsoles, hat, sunscreen. Rain cancels.
