Sierra Pelona Ridge via PCT

Moderate 6 mi, 1200' gain to the windy ridge of Sierra Pelona with gorgeous views of Bouquet Cyn, Agua Dulce and surrounding mountains. Meet 9 am at Newhall Ave exit in Santa Clarita (5 Fwy to 14 [Antelope Valley] Fwy N, 1st exit Newhall Ave, R [S] to carpool area). Bring water, lunch, lugsoles, fsp. Rain cancels.

Join our annual calorie burner up the Los Pinetos Trail. Moderate 5 mi, 1400' gain hike to ridge between San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys. Outstanding view of the two valleys. Meet 12 noon at Walker Ranch entrance of Placerita Cyn Park (5 Fwy N to 14 [Antelope Valley] Fwy N, exit Placerita Cyn Rd, go R on Placerita Cyn Rd passing main entrance to park and continuing another 1¾ mi to gated entrance to Walker Ranch; do not block gate). Bring water, snack, lugsoles. Rain cancels.

Soledad Cyn to Vasquez Rocks

This quiet park provides an excellent example of oak woodlands and chaparral and riparian vegetation.
