Coastal Train Hike?Goleta to Santa Barbara

Meet 7 am LA Union Station, take train to Goleta and then commence a lovely coastal hike S to Santa Barbara. For those past participants who have done the section from Carpinteria, this is new coast. Ability to hike 12 mi at moderate 20 min-per-mi pace. We will end our hiking adventure in Colonial Santa Barbara with a glass of fine vintage Central Valley vino before boarding our return train to LA. Arrive Union Station 9 am. Moderate 12 mi, 2500' gain. Cross the Verdugo Hills from Montrose to Sun Valley. Views of SFV, San Gabriel Mtns. Meet 8 am S end of Morning Glow Way in Sun Valley (off La Tuna Cyn Rd) for car shuttle. Bring water, lunch, hat, jacket, lugsoles. Well-mannered dogs ok. Rain cancels.

Old Ridge Route Bike Ride

Bike 40 mi on the Old Ridge Route from Templin Hwy to Sandberg at Pine Cyn Rd and back. Mostly paved road but some gravel and broken asphalt. Lots of ups and downs; prefer mountain bikes but road bikes OK. Meet 9 am Templin Hwy and Old Ridge Route, 8 mi N of Castaic. Bring helmet, lunch, double water, spare tube.

Glendale Evening Urban Walk

Explore the unique residential treasures of Glendale while burning some after-dinner calories. This walk is part of an irregular series of Glendale urban walks. All walks take place on sidewalks; 4-5 mi loop trips; 2 hrs. This walk will involve 500' gain. Meet 6:30 pm Brand Park (1601 W Mountain St. Park at top of entrance loop). Bring walking shoes, appropriate clothes, optional flashlight. Rain cancels.

Walk 8 mi in the surf from Imperial Hwy to the Manhattan Beach Pier. 4 hrs. Meet 10 am, W on 105 Fwy/Imperial Hwy to the end. Turn R on Vista del Mar and park on the street. Park NW corner of Vista del Mar & Imperial Hwy. Meet at the cars. Bring walking shoes if you are not conditioned to walking barefoot in the sand.
